Hourly Rate
Stop in for some content creation and play around with set decor and props, making use of a small chunk of time to fuel your creative ideas and create beautiful imagery to share online. Hourly rate minimum 1 hour. *

Half Day, 4 Hours
For projects with a simple set up the Half, Day rental can make use of any available time slot, morning or afternoon. The studio has East and South facing windows so if you are looking for direct sunlight, plan accordingly. Half-day rental includes 4 hours of studio time.*

Day Rate, 6 Hours
Perfect for large-scale project with extensive setup or set design, use of the space through the shifting natural light, full day of mini sessions. The Day rental option gives you use of the studio for full opening hours.

EQUIPMENT + AMENITIES
Furniture + Props
Rentals include access to Quay’s rotating collection of furniture, surfaces and styling props. Pieces may be carefully moved during a booking and must be returned to their original locations afterward.
What to Bring
Specific seamless-paper colours, roll lengths and equipment condition may change because studio supplies receive regular use. Renters should bring any specialty lighting, modifiers, backdrops, tools or production supplies required for their project.
If your production depends on a particular item, please confirm its availability before booking.

ACCESS + STUDIO USE
Parking + Load-In
Up to two unreserved parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the lot on the west side of the building. Additional street and paid parking may be available nearby.
The Quay Studio entrance is the blue door located in the parking lot. From there, proceed directly up two narrow flights of stairs. The studio is on the second floor and there is no elevator.
Washroom
The shared building washroom is located directly across the hall. If it is locked, the key is hanging on the back of Quay Studio’s entrance door. Please return it immediately after use.
Reset + Cleanup
Setup, teardown and cleanup must happen within the reserved booking time. Before leaving:
Return furniture, equipment and props
Refresh the sofa and cushions
Wash, dry and return dishes
Wipe up spills and remove food
Sweep where needed
Remove personal and production materials
Turn off lights and equipment
Return the washroom key
Lock the studio and return the entry key
THE SPACE
Studio Specifications
Approximately 1,500 sq. ft. with 14-foot ceilings and large east- and south-facing windows.
Natural Light
The studio receives natural light throughout much of the day. Direct sunlight may enter between approximately 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., depending on the season, weather and cloud cover. Morning bookings generally receive stronger east-facing light, while the south-facing windows provide light later into the day.
Light Control
The studio does not currently have diffusion or blackout curtains. Renters requiring fully controlled natural light must bring their own light-control materials and confirm the installation method before booking.
Sound Recording
Quay Studio is located in a shared older industrial building and is not soundproofed. A fitness studio operates downstairs, so music, voices and movement may occasionally be audible.
Productions recording interviews or dialogue should check Collective Movement Ottawa’s class schedule before booking. Complete silence from neighbouring tenants, the building or exterior traffic cannot be guaranteed.Capacity
The maximum event capacity is 60 people, including guests, organizers, vendors and staff. Photography and video productions should provide their expected cast and crew size when booking.
Production + Event Pricing
Standard studio rates apply to private photography and video productions involving the booked client, subjects, cast and crew.
Any gathering that is advertised, ticketed or requires registration or RSVP—including workshops, classes, pop-ups, markets, performances and networking gatherings—requires event pricing and must be booked by direct inquiry.

There is free on site parking for Quay Studio in the lot on the West side of the building near our studio entrance to the second floor. There is also additional free street parking or an overflow paid parking lot right across the street for bigger events.

All the props you see online or in images of the space on our page are tools available for you to use in any of your bookings. The space is meant to be a playground for sets so feel free to move pieces around or send a message requestion certain setups ahead of your shoot day.

Yes! We have both packages of hours at bulk discount that can be redeemed at anytime, as well as subscription options for a monthly fee with select access to first-come spots. Check out more above.

We are a-ok with pets as visitors in our space. We just ask that you follow a few precautions. Please wipe their feet before they get comfy on the sofa, clean up any accidents, big or small, and let us know about any incidents asap so we can address them.

The space has A/C, WIFI, a kitchenette with a mini-fridge and sink, and shared building washrooms.

We do not commit to offering specific colours or options for seamless backdrop roll colours or sizes, but we have a few on hand in the studio. We also provide the needed C-stands and weights so that you can bring and use your own as per your project needs.

Almost all studio bookings are private access VIA keybox code with no staff immediately on site.
